GUEST POST: Beautycounter with Kristine

I am so excited to be doing my first ever guest blog post. It’s also extra special because it’s with my Sister in law. My sister in law, Kristine, lives in sunny California with her husband Jon and two amazing daughters. Kristine sells Beautycounter products giving her the freedom to work around her own schedule. It has been amazing to watch her grow this business. I also love the fact that the products she sells are 100% NATURAL! Below are some questions I had about Beautycounter. Q: What was your first purchase from Beautycounter?

My friend was selling Beautycounter, and she reached out to me, asking if I would try some products. Just because we were friends, I placed an order for the Kid’s Collection. Little did I know how much I would fall in love with the product and the ingredients in the product! My youngest daughter had eczema, and thanks to Beautycounter, it is now cleared right up. I previously tried to control flare ups with diets and different things, but I never even considered that her bath soap contained gluten! 

Q: I noticed that Beautycounter talks a lot about being non-toxic and safer. Could you tell me a little more about that?

Women are exposed to hundreds of chemicals a day through their beauty products. We are trying to inform people to make better everyday decisions based on the knowledge of what is in their products. A lot of people just don’t realize what is in their products. (Here is a little challenge: Go to your bathroom, turn over any product, and look at the ingredients and compare it to our “never list.” See what you find and feel free to post about it here in the comments.)

Q: What is so important about the Beautycounter “never list”?

Beautycounter has a list of 1500 ingredients that we have made a promise to never put in our products. This list contains: parabens, hormone disruptors, carcinogens, fragrance, dyes, sulfates and synthetic fillers. You can find the list here and print it if you would like.

 Q: If I could only afford to buy one Beautycounter product, which product would you recommend?

This is tough one, but I would probably start by choosing a product that would stay on your skin the longest (i.e. lotions, makeup, facial moisturizers, etc). It takes approximately 26 seconds after you put anything on your skin for the ingredients to enter your blood stream. We often forget skin is our largest organ – what we put on it matters! 

Q: What is your favorite ingredient in the products and why?

Well, I love that our products are scented with essential oils. You don’t have to worry about all the harmful chemicals that fall under the category of fragrance. Our products still smell so awesome— in fact better! Coconut oil is another ingredient that you will find in many of our products.

Q: What is the best part about Beautycounter?

One of my favourite parts about Beautycounter is that it’s a one stop shop! You can buy what you need for babies, brother, sister, mommy, daddy, nanas and papas. I actually find that I am saving money now shopping for the entire family at Beautycounter rather than spontaneous browsing/picking up a few extra things at Target and Macy’s like before! 

Q: Why are Beautycounter’s products more expensive than others?

You get what you pay for. Beautycounter is not Walmart! These products are very high performing, meaning just a small amount goes a very long way. Also, note that the high quality of ingredients (rather than cheap, harmful fillers) and the extra screening that takes place to make sure our formulas are safe and effective naturally result in a greater cost! Remember, your health is your greatest asset – you are worth it! 

Q: What advice would you offer women who want to start their own business?

Go for it! I have learned so much, especially patience! I feel it is so rewarding helping other moms and families get safer products. I have enjoyed meeting new people and forming new relationships. I love that I can write my own schedule and be there for my girls. I also love being able to help our family financially for special trips and vacations. It is so much fun being able to do nice things and make good memories without having to charge it or feel guilty! 

Q: When and why did you first start selling Beautycounter?

I started selling in November and only wish I had started sooner! I would have never thought in a million years that I would get involved in direct sales. Yet, I feel very passionately about not just these amazing products, but I wholeheartedly stand behind Beautycounter’s mission. I am really happy I gave them a chance, and I love how my skin is looking and feeling great.
